The hearings were attended by the People´s Deputies, the representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, sectoral ministries, regional State administrations, scientific institutes, protection objects and public environmental associations.
The participants of the hearings stated that "the issues concerning development of nature-protection sector are to take into account environmental, economic and social interests of the society, and should be regarded as one of the priorities of the long-term State policy of Ukraine".
The participants of the hearings dwelled upon the unsettled issues in the nature-protection sector. Inter alia, they commented on the inadequate level of public nature-protection standards, lack of personnel at the territorial bodies of the Ministry of the Environmental Protection of Ukraine and the State Service of Nature Protection, their insufficient financial and material provision.
The attendants resolved to summarize introduced motions and remarks that will be considered at the Committee meeting before a relevant decision is adopted.
